Following a Christian McCaffrey hamstring injury that is likely to sideline him for weeks, Chuba Hubbard fantasy values have skyrocketed.
Even after minimal impact through Week 1 and 2, Chuba Hubbard is the hottest name on the waiver wire as he steps into the starters roll in the Carolina backfield.
Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Value and Outlook
There are a few specific types of fantasy owners who should be sprinting to pick up Chuba Hubbard right now.
Forward thinking Christian McCaffrey owners may have already handcuffed Hubbard on draft night, but for those of you who did not, you should be the first group trying to pick him up immediately.
Anyone in a 10 team league or deeper will want to take picking up Chuba Hubbard into serious consideration as well, as he is likely to out perform a wide margin of bench players over the coming weeks.
Beyond the immediate impact he will make, there are a number of reasons that make him a good stash option even when McCaffrey does come back. First of all, we know McCaffrey is phenomenal, but we also know he gets hurt A LOT. In years past, the Panthers have done all they can to get McCaffrey back onto the field in a timely manner following an injury. However, with a hamstring, and with McCaffrey’s injuries in general, they seem to linger. He doesn’t always come back at 100% and still tends to split usage.
We saw this exact scenario in Carolina just last season with Mike Davis, who was able to carve out a very nice fantasy roll for himself. I expect Chuba Hubbard to be able to accomplish the same.
